Nothing Compares

Little did you know. While you slept she left. You couldn't have hoped for a better start of the day. But there was a sense of loss you haven't really anticipated. Distant at first, vague and almost silent. Almost negligible, with no contours and no depth. Neither sweet nor savoury. Unimportant and weightless.

It's only once it faded even further that you started missing it, your only true friend. You decide to call her. Maybe this time she will depart sooner, leaving that familiar feeling behind.
